RYEMARKET LAUNCH FOR SMARTfest

The three day Stourbridge Music Arts Rhythm Theatre Festival (SMARTFest) which takes place in the summer was launched in The Ryemarket on Friday, March 16.

SMARTFest has been organised by a group of Stourbridge art and music fans and will see musicians, actors, dancers and writers showcasing their skills and their work in and around the town.

Pictured right at the launch are the Ryemarket's centre manager Karl Taylor and Mark Williams from Bridge Radio.

There will be arts and crafts events and workshops taking place throughout the family-friendly event from Friday August 10 to Sunday August 12, starting with a Search for a Star competition in The Ryemarket on the Friday.

There will be an arts trail and literature festival and presenters from Stourbridge community radio station 102.5 The Bridge will broadcast live from the shopping centre.

On Saturday, August 11 bands and musicians will take to the stage in Mary Stevens Park, Norton, which will also host an arts and crafts workshop, fun fair and children’s activities.

The event ends on Sunday, August 12 with a variety show at Stourbridge Town Hall featuring artists, bands, comedians and novelty acts.
