Visit to Ryemarket for the Home Secretary, Sajid Javid
The Ryemarket had a visit from the Home Secretary, Sajid Javid on Friday. He was meeting local councillor Steve Clarke, Margo James the local MP and the police to talk about issues within the area. They met at the cop shop within the centre which the Ryemarket management has licenced to the police for free following the closure of the police station in the town, so the police have a base within the town centre and also a place the community can go for information on crime prevention.
Kelley Dyas, The Ryemarket manager met Mr Javid and expressed her concerns in regards to the lack of the police station and the great job the neighbourhood team did even with overstretched resources, but that a more visible police presence not only in the town but in the local community, would have such a big impact on the issues Stourbridge is facing at the moment. Partnership working with businesses, the community, the council and the police working together is the future of making Stourbridge a great place to live, work and shop.
