Stourbridge Christmas Light Switch On
The Christmas lights were officially turned on in Stourbridge on Saturday 30th November and a great day was had by all. The Minions, Santa, Elf on stilts, steam land train and lots of live music acts were just a few of the entertainers here on the day. With live Broadcasts from Black Country radio and Caroline Martin from radio WM switching on the lights, with competition winner Ashley Knott.
The community atmosphere on the day was ”fantastic” said Ryemarket manager Kelley Dyas “ It was great to see the children’s face light up when they saw Santa in his grotto and also get the chance to meet the Minions. It’s always a lovely day and so well attended by the local community our footfall was up 7% compared to last year’s light switch on.”
We’d like to thank the sponsors who help to make the day such a success, The Stourbridge News, All Electric garages, Waitrose, Mazda, Black Country Radio, Tudor markets, Dudley MBC and Stourbridge Chamber of Trade.
It was lovely this year to mark the opening of new store Eco Maniax within the Ryemarket shopping centre with Santa doing the honours cutting the recycled newspaper ribbon. Santa’s grotto is open every Saturday on the lead up to Christmas within the Ryemarket and is FREE with a special gift for all children visiting.
